Jacob's first day!

I say "Jacob's first day," but Elizabeth is there as well.  She is allowed to come and go between the classroom and their bedroom, (which are right next door to one another) and there is a gate up preventing her from going anywhere else.  Some activities she is included in, but it is her choice which ones she joins.  I don't want to force her above her level.

One of the things I have learnt about Jake this week is that he is a perfectionist.  He easily gets upset and discouraged with himself when he does not feel he is doing well enough.  I can tell him he is doing great, but if he doesn't think it looks good enough he keeps erasing till he is satisfied with the result.

As Jacob learns to write, Elizabeth is given color sheets corresponding to what he is working on.  Basically to help her recognize her letters and numbers, though has a bonus of giving me some freedom to work with him without her standing over us distracting him.  She can count as high as twenty (though she usually stops or gets confused around twelve), but I am not certain if she actually recognizes the numbers when she sees them.
